Nokia X5 Starts Receiving Android 9.0 Pie Update in China, Rollout for Nokia 5.1 Plus Likely Soon


Launched earlier this year, Nokia X5, launched by HMD Global in China, has begun to receive Android Pie updates. Update is now running in China. Nokia X5 came with Android 8.1 Oreo during its launch in July this year.

With the Nokia X5 users receiving the update, the global version of the device, Nokia 5.1 Plus, 9,999, is also expected to receive updates soon. Nokia 5.1 Plus was launched in August.
Nokia X5 Android Pie Update

Android Pie update for Nokia X5 is now coming out, the company confirmed through Weibo.

The size of the update was described as 1467MB and you will need a minimum of 2940MB of space in your smartphone.

The update will also bring a new feature in the device. The update was first made by Ithome Nokia X5, the second Nokia X-Series smartphone that was launched by Nokia mobile brand licensee HMD Global after Nokia X6.

As we mentioned, the Nokia X5 was launched in July, and the next month, was launched globally as the Nokia 5.1 Plus.

In China, HMD Global has some optimizations on top of Android, however, with global changes, HMD subscribes to the Global Android One program, provides timely updates.

Nokia X5 specifications

Nokia X5 has a 2.5D glass protection, a 5: 86-inch HD + (720×1520 pixel) display with 19: 9 aspect ratios and 84 percent screen-to-body ratio.

There is a double-sided glass body and a display knock and a little chin. Nokia X5 has a dual rear camera setup that has a 13-megapixel primary and 5 megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, the smartphone has an 8-megapixel lens with AI-imaging technology.

Dual SIM (Dual 4G VoLTE) device is available in 3GB RAM / 32GB storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage option. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 Octa-Core SoC (4Cortex-A73 Core 2.0GHz + 4Cortex-A53Clock 2.0GHz) and packs a 3,060mAh battery The smartphone is available in Knight Black, Baltic Sea Blue and Glacier White Color options.
