Taiwan-based chipmaker MediaTek has expanded its lineup with the launch of two new G-series chipsets — MediaTek Helio G25 and G35. These chipsets are aimed at making budget smartphones more capable for extensive gaming.
Both chipsets are powered by ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs, operating up to 2GHz & 2.3GHz for the MediaTek Helio G25 and G35 chips respectively. The chips feature IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPUs, with claimed speeds of up to 650MHz and up to 680 MHz for the MediaTek Helio G25 and G35, respectively.
The duo are said to be optimal power efficient as they are based on the 12nm FinFET production process. They also feature MediaTek HyperEngine’s intelligent power management that is said to make the smartphone deliver a long battery-life and be power efficient, even during long gaming sessions.
Both the chipsets support multi-camera smartphones and include a hardware depth engine for dual camera bokeh photography. While the Helio G25 supports a single camera of up to 21MP at 30fps, the Helio G35 supports up to 25MP camera and AI enhanced camera features including simulated bokeh effects. For dual camera purposes, the chipsets can support 13+8MP sensors at 30fps.
Further, the chipsets feature integrated 4G LTE WorldMode modems, which includes dual 4G SIM support, allowing VoLTE/ViLTE on both connections.
MediaTek Helio G25 offers support for up to HD+ display of 100x720p resolution with 20:9 aspect ratio and the MediaTek Helio G355 offers support for FullHD+ display with 2400x1080p resolution of 20:9 aspect ratio.
While the company has not confirmed which handsets will first feature these chipsets, it did say that major smartphone brands will use them in coming months.
