The iPhone, not only fills Apple’s coffers, but also gives several other companies that are into the accessories business a huge fillip. A report by 9to5Mac suggests that the global Apple accessory market is set to be worth $27.1 billion over the next six years.
The report cites a research done by Zion Research, which revealed that the screen protector or guard is the most popular iPhone accessory in the world. The screen guard, as per Zion Research, is also the most important iPhone accessory. The report states, “Apple has become a very popular brand and iPhone is the most selling product of Apple brand due to which the usage for screen guards has also increased to a larger extent as it is the most important accessory.”
Zion Research also states that affordable iPhones have also been a critical factor in driving the growth of Apple accessories market. “Introduction of various new models in iPhone at a budget friendly rate has also increased the usage of screen guards which is a driving factor for the Apple accessories market,” the report states.
The research firm further said that despite manufacturers like Apple using toughened glass on displays, they remain prime to damages. “This has increased demand for screen guards to protect the screen of these expensive devices like the iPhone and iPad. This factor is driving the increased demand of screen guards in Apple accessories market and it is forecasted that the iPhone and iPad screen guard is the most productive segment of Apple accessories market.”
The screen guard is not surprisingly the most popular accessory as almost everyone wants to protect their display. Add to it that replacing the display of an iPhone remains a really expensive proposition, the popularity of screen guard as an accessory doesn’t come as a surprise.
